As a neighborhood school, we are proud of our community and friendly atmosphere that promotes learning in a challenging, yet caring way. We hope you may become a part of our Eagleton community.

Located in the Barnum Park area of NW Denver, Eagleton is a neighborhood school with a population of approximately 425 students from ECE (4year olds), 2 full day kindergartens and 1st to 5th grade. As a TINLI (Transitional Native Language Instruction) school we provide instruction in Spanish as needed and daily English language development instruction. Additionally, Eagleton is a center school for the Multi-Intensive Autism Program for students in grades 1 and 2.

Eagleton students receive a strong, standards-based education in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies and science. Literacy is a priority at Eagleton so that students gain the necessary knowledge and skills to become successful readers and writers. Students are encouraged to read 1,000,000 words a year and we have initiated Reading Counts, a computer-based motivational reading program that combines books with technology to motivate students to higher levels of independent reading. The writing curriculum emphasizes teaching students how to write in a variety of genres: personal narratives, expository essays, research papers, "how-to" instructions, fictional stories, poetry and responses to literature.

Our mathematics curriculum is progressive and diverse. Our second grade students have math activity bags to take home and use to improve their basic skills. Third grade will receive math bags after the holiday break. We have a Friday afternoon math club for students wishing to engage in math activities beyond the classroom where we play skill and strategy games. We are also starting a "Lunch Bunch" tutoring time for 4th and 5th graders who need to address any special needs. In addition, this year we have scheduled Math Nights for parents to assist in understanding our program and how parents can better help their student succeed. Everyday Math is the curriculum we have been using for many years and our scores continue to improve as we gain more parent support and additional math related activities.

Of special interest to many parents is Eagleton's low-cost after school care, Fit Fun, which offers high quality homework support, nutritional snacks, board games fun and the use of the playground or gymnasium for physical activity. Additionally, the Rotary Club provides a variety of support to develop self-directed, well-rounded students with programs like Brain-Wise.

Estamos situados en el area de "Barnum Park" en el noroeste de Denver. Eagleton es una escuela vecindario con una población de aproximadamente 425 estudiantes. Tenemos ECE (niños de 4 años), 2 jardínes infantiles de todo el día y los grados 1 al 5. Somos una escuela que provee instrucción en Español, cuando es necesario, e instrucción en Ingles diariamente. También, Eagleton es una escuela con un programa multi-intensivo para estudiantes con autísmo en los grados 1 y 2.

Los estudiantes de Eagleton reciben instrucción basada en las rigurosas normas de Colorado; en lectura, escritura, matemáticas, estudios sociales, y ciencias.

Aquí en Eagleton ayudamos a que los alumnos aprendan los conocimientos de escritura y lectura para que lleguen a ser literatos. Tratamos de inspirar a los estudiantes a leer un millón de palabras cada año y enseñamos cómo pueden utilizar estrategias de escritura y lectura. Hemos iniciado el programa "Reading Counts" que combina libros con tecnología para motivar a los estudiantes a leer libros más y más complicados. Este programa no sólamente toma en cuenta el progreso que hace el alumno cada año sino por todos los años que participa en el programa.

El curso de escritura enseña a los estudiantes cómo escribir para una variedad de generos como: narrativos personales, ensayos expositivos, papeles escudriñamientos, la creación de instrucciones, cuentos ficticios, poesía y respuestas a literatura.

El curso usado para enseñar matemáticas se llama Matemáticas Diarias. De interés para muchos padres, es el programa barato de guardería que se forma después de clases que se llama "Fit Fun". Los niños reciben ayuda con la tarea, juegan juegos de tablero, comen bocadillos nutritivos, y pueden utilizar el campo de recreo para actividades fieacutisicas. "Rotary Club" sostiene "Brain Wise", un programa que ayuda a los niños a aprender a ser sólos dirigidos y a aprender estrategias que les ayuden a ser bien equilibrados.
